“Resist Political Oppressors This Easter”, Sowore Tells Nigerians

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has urged Nigerians to reject the traditional religious messages of forgiveness and redemption that will be preached by the political oppressors during this Easter.

In a statement shared on his social media platforms, Sowore urged Nigerians not to be swayed by what he described as “false statements” from their oppressors.

“Happy Easter ALL!” Sowore began in his post. “Our oppressors are still going to issue false statements lying to you that today is for forgiveness, redemption & rejuvenation.”

He continued with a firm call to action, challenging the core values often emphasized during Easter celebrations. “Don’t forgive them, they’re not redeemable, and the only path to rejuvenation is #RevolutionNow,” Sowore declared.

The Easter period, celebrated by Christians around the world to mark the resurrection of Jesus Christ, is typically accompanied by messages promoting peace, hope, and forgiveness.

Sowore’s message, however, calls for political awakening and revolutionary change rather than spiritual reflection.

Sowore, founder of the #RevolutionNow movement and publisher of SaharaReporters, has remained a vocal critic of successive Nigerian governments. His message appears to be a continued reflection of his stance on social justice, government accountability, and the need for systemic transformation in the country.
